Security Officer Job Description, Orange County, California
Security Officers may patrol on foot, in marked vehicles, or at managed stations to ensure security and protect client property and on many sites may be called upon to assist the general public.
Sites include Professional Office areas, Retail Plazas and Malls, Construction Sites, Gated Residential Communities, Airport Areas, Manufacturing Facilities, and others.
Security Officers may work full time or part time. Officers often work in the public view in office campuses and complexes, airport or plant areas, and at entrances or exits where they may be asked for help, directions, or assistance.
Security Officers may work Armed or UnArmed. Some positions require that the officer be armed. This requirement means more Security Officer training is involved and in many cases the wage reflects this fact.

Security Officer Job Requirements
HERITAGE SECURITY WILL TRAIN QUALIFIED APPLICANTS, BUT GIVES PREFERENCE TO APPLICANTS ALREADY MEETING REQUIREMENTS.
Basic Requirements for ALL Positions:
- 18 Years of age, a U.S. Citizen or Legal Resident.
- Pass a civil, criminal, and employment background check.
- Have reliable transportation.
- Be physically capable of performing the job.
- Be well groomed and professional in appearance.
Background and Job Experience:
- Prior military or security officer-related experience.
- Transit Systems Security Basic Training Program graduate.
Education:
- BSIS* Powers to Arrest Training
- PC 832 Training
License and Certification Requirements:
- BSIS Guard Registration (California Guard Card)
- BSIS Permit for Exposed Firearm
- BSIS Baton Permit
- Tear Gas Certificate
- CPR Training
- First Aid Training
Other Skills and Experience:
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Likes people and is good at working with the general public.
- Defensive Tactics training or experience.
- Arrest and Control techniques training or experience.
- Vehicle driving and defensive driving skills.
