Holiday Safety Tips

Heritage Security is pleased to present these security tips, specifically related to the exposures and risks present in any office-retail environment.

If shopping at an outdoor mall or outlet stores, consider moving your car when you drop off presents. No one likes to lug around too many items from store to store, so most people return to their cars several times to drop off purchases and resume shopping. When you do this, consider moving your car a few lanes away. Thieves like to stake out parking lots for people leaving purchases in their car and returning to stores. If they see you get in and drive away they will likely assume your shopping trip is over and look for another target.

Ask for a security guard escort. If you approach your car and see an unsavory character staked out nearby, return to the store and ask for someone to walk you to your car. Most store security personnel are used to this, so there is no need to feel embarrassed. Besides, better to be safe than sorry!

When setting up a tree, place it away from fireplaces, radiators and portable heaters. Place the tree out of the way of foot traffic and do not block doorways.

Carefully inspect new and previously used light strings, and replace damaged items before plugging lights in. Do not overload extension cords. Plug all outdoor electric decorations into circuits with ground-fault circuit interrupters to avoid potential shocks.

Do not jaywalk. Take time to make sure drivers see you by crossing in crosswalks and at corners. During the holiday season, more pedestrians are victims of traffic accidents than at any other time of year.

When installation finishes, you will see the Dashboard login screen:

Enter your User Name and Password in the login screen, then click Login.
If you do not have a CyCop login, contact the Heritage CyCop^® Helpdesk or your Heritage Security Services sales representative.

You now have the CyCop^® Dashboard installed on your computer!
