Heritage Security Services began operation as a licensed security service on August 1, 1980, and was incorporated on March 27, 1981. The company is wholly owned and operated by Lawrence Richman, President and founder.
Officers are recruited on the basis of customer relation skills, appearance, experience and background. All security officer candidates undergo extensive background checks including past employers, military records, criminal records and interviews with references. Each candidate is screened for attitudes toward drug use, theft and dishonesty. Preferred recruiting sources include security training schools, military service, personal referrals and law enforcement agencies.

The company is wholly owned and operated by Lawrence Richman, President and founder. Mr. Richman's history in private security dates back to 1976 when he was the executive director of a federally-funded security training program prior to establishing Heritage. In addition to his considerable history in the private security sector, Mr. Richman has 12 years of marketing and management experience in the commercial data processing industry. His previous employers include IBM Corporation, ITT, and Science Applications International Corporation.
